Impatiens

We hang impatiens plants on the garage doors during the warm weather. Until last year, I'd always assumed that impatiens is strictly an outdoor annual.
Last fall, we brought the plants into the house to keep them from dying in the first frost while there were still a lot of blooms on them. All winter long, they kept growing and blooming by a kitchen window. They were way too tall to be used as hanging plants again but they've spent the summer outside on the stone wall. They are still alive although they stopped producing flowers after they were put outside.
No buds appeared until last week.
A new bud and a flower.

Hi Bette, I didn't know they would survive inside either....good job. Is it a New Guinea Imp?
Hope you are all perking along at your house,

Evidently there is a problem with the "save" function as I cannot make my text larger. I apologize.

I found that my impatiens had to have just the exact amount of water and shade to really bloom well!

Needless to say, I never got them to bloom well!

I have not been able to get a good batch of impatiens to bloom (or LIVE even) since moving to Texas...In NJ I had them blooming from Spring until Fall..

Another reason I miss the Northeast. Well, until January anyway...;-)
