Backyard Dogwood

Something wicked this way came ....

Last night, when all was dark and all were sleeping soundly in their bed, we had a visitor. It was strong enough to pull the feeder down to it's own level (4 paws on the ground) and take the suet yet again. They are frequent visitors in our part of CT. Last week, Mom spoke the words she should NOT have uttered: "The bear hasn't visited us in over a year". Bite your tongue, Mom!

Purples and Whites

Waving hello to passersby

I guess Pawpa must have planted more than one box of "double daffy's". Here's a yellow one!

Orange chu pretty?

Call it color envy.
Don't know what "it" is.
Just liked the color.

(Seen in the Canton Barn parking lot on Saturday night)

I would like to thank you all for your kind comments about "my first video". It took FOREVER to upload. It took so long, I was certain I'd done something wrong. I just imported from camera to laptop and uploaded from laptop to blogger. I'm still using the old version of blogger. I used the new version once and I did not like it so I went back to the old version.

Monday Movie

Be kind. This is my first attempt at filming a video and uploading. There are things you should not notice ... like a cobweb ... but I didn't know how to edit it out.

Giz was trying to hide a "wacky woofer" treat by the side of a chair. Pawpa had unwrapped some antique china and left the newspaper next to the chair. I could hear Giz rustling around in the paper. When he looked up, he was growling at me but you can hardly hear it on the video.

Part 2 shows him deciding not to store the wacky woofer in the newspaper since bad Mommy had discovered him. And off he goes with the woofer in his mouth.

PS: the cobweb is gone now too!

Will I be pretty? What will I be?

Will I be yellow?
Will I be white?
Will I be single?
Will I be double?

What will I be? I see ..
I will be me ..
And I will be ..
Odd as can be.

The Pie Caper

Last Sunday, a friend sent Pawpa home with 6 pieces of pie. Three pieces were chocolate cream and the other three were banana cream. Mom had one piece of chocolate cream pie that same day. The banana cream looked something like this. Doesn't that pie look yummy? Of course it does! All the pies from the Canton Auction Barn are yummy and this one was too. Mom decided to have a second piece of pie while watching TV on Tuesday. Uh-Oh! Guess what? All the pie was GONE! HOOWEE!!! Pawpa said he figured he should eat those pieces of pie because they was .. maybe .. getting a little soggy. I gotta tell you, me and Pawpa are getting just a L-I-T-T-L-E bit tired of hearing Mom talk about how he ate ALL her pies and didn't leave her any.

Buds, Blooms, Bees, and a weird bulging vine

Buds (& Bee)

Blooms (& Bee)

Weird bulging vine

Friday, April 9, 2010

The drunken lamppost

is ALIVE

This used to be a conventional front yard lamppost. Over the years a nearby vine overtook the post. Now the original post has deteriorated and the vine's branches are all that hold the lamp upright .. along with a rope anchored to the garage. Pawpa cuts it back but new branches keep sprouting.

A lot like Jack

Yesterday, I got left behind. Pawpa and Mom LEFT me at the pet motel and went off WITHOUT ME to a place called New Hamster. This is the door greeter at The Cobb's Auctioneers in Peterborough, NH. He's a yellow lab and his name is Jack just like the dog, Jack, that Mom reads about every day at Daily Dose of Jack.

He liked having his picture taken so much he brought out his purple chicken so she could take a picture of THAT too.

Then he laid down so Mom could give him a belly rub.
He has that "whatcha waiting for" look in his eye.

View from my Window

On Tuesday, I tried to capture the roaring spillway from my kitchen window. The town employees came by shortly after to open the floodgate to lower the water level at the reservoir. Unfortunately, the window shot doesn't catch it very well. (It's the white area in the middle.)
