If I wasn’t so busy trying to nap, I might consider a cookie adequate persuasion for a photo op.

I’ve heard about a strike

I heard there is a strike in progress started by Martha & Bailey. I “close my eyes” to you and the flashy box in support of them and others who are suffering with the necessity of being photogenic at all times. FURENDS UNITE.

(Doesn't he look pitiful?)

And that is how I feel about getting my picture taken ALL THE TIME.

Leader of the pack

Here I am – Leader of the Pack. Too bad today’s pack is down to one slow woman who insists on keeping me on a (short) leash.

Falling leaves

The leaves are falling into the reservoir now and collecting in "islands" as they slowly move down to the spillway.

All the leaves float to the edge of the reservoir and build up under the spillway bridge before flowing over the edge and off down the stream.

Water Under the Bridge

I know this isn't a particularly attractive picture but the thought that popped into my head when I looked in that direction was "it's all water under the bridge". Most us have used that term every once in a while and because I can be be quirky, I found it humorous. (I'm "older" and entitled to behave oddly if I want...at least occasionally.)

Red Reflected

While Pawpa went to the Post Office down the street, Mom took pictures of the Collinsville Axe Factory building. The building is now occupied by several small businesses and Antiques on the Farmington, an antiques co-op. (You can click the picture to make it bigger.)

Chicken??

It is very hard to cook chicken on Huckleberry Hill without having to take evasive action to prevent tripping over a small white dog. It doesn't matter if the chicken is baked, fried, poached, broiled, or simmered in broth.....it will always attract THIS dog's attention.

Chicken? I smell CHICKEN and YOU have it!

i want some

It's chicken soup? I want your soup. I want it NOW!

now

GIVE IT TO ME! If you don’t give me some, I WILL BARK!

i mean now

(PS: Pawpa hadda pick up those newspapers when he gots home.)

The change is here

I should have marked an “X” in the woods so I could stand on the same spot every week…

Since I didn’t, the view is a little different each week but the same trees are in the shot.

Tower Toot

Yesterday, Pawpa and I went up the mountain to enjoy the Tower Toot held by the "Friends of Heublein Tower". Unfortunately, when we got there, we learned the Toot was postponed due to the inclement weather forecast for the weekend. Because we'd also been invited for hors d'oerves by friends that have property up near the tower, all was not lost. I got a few shots of the trees and the horizon as well as good food and interesting conversation. The day was gray and the trees not as bright and colorful as some years but we enjoyed ourselves immensely anyhow.

A view of Avon Mountain from the top. In the center of the picture, there is a small gray spot. That is the road as it is seen with the naked eye.

This is enlarged just a little.

Here is the road that you could barely see in the second picture.

Gizzy's pillow

This used to be our couch pillow. It's Gizzy's pillow now. We got him a reversible mat of his own with shearling on one side but he prefers the pillow. This is where he likes to sleep when he isn't busy trying to protect Pawpa from me.

Friday Favorites on Saturday

Harbourville, Kings County, Nova Scotia

You can see the huge difference between high tide and low tide by where the boats are sitting in the water. On the lower right, the little blue building on the right side of the road is a restaurant. We had lunch there and it was excellent! We visited Harbourville because my husband had fond memories of visiting there with his parents as a boy.

Dogs do it too

The other day Madi, the diva cat from Potpourri in NC, was resting her head on a book on top of the stairs in her house. I guess she didn’t care that it wasn’t soft and squishy. Well, what’s good enough for my friend Madi is good enough for me. I found Mom’s box of photos to be scanned was just the perfect height to rest my head.

Stepping Lively

It’s chilly, it’s damp, and I gots NO hair. I’m moving so fast I’m a blur. Get out of the doorway, Mom! Here I come!

Mom says, if we wait long enough,
me and the grass will both get a trim.

I'm guessing we did wait long enough. The grass was

Love Affair

….with the park.

This is the covered bridge that goes over the large spillway. If you go over the bridge, there are a few trails thru the woods. The neighbors snowshoe there when the snow is deep enough.
