Chasing the bear
In answer to your question Ms. ~K, not all of the bear pix were taken from the safety of my window. When I saw the feeder was broken again, I stuck my head out the window and looked around to see if the bear was still there. He wasn't. Obviously I am not a thoughtful neighbor because I did not call my neighbors to let them know he was around. Then the phone rang. My closest neighbor was calling to warn ME that the bear was currently in HER backyard. (I truly did feel a flush of shame when I picked up the phone.) Since I hadn't gotten a picture earlier, I went outside to see if I COULD get one. Since I was unable to get a clear shot from my patio, I decided to walk down the trail in the park to see if I could get a picture by standing across the stream from her house. (I was a little worried because there were young children who were playing in the park by the trail but they were on their way out when I got there.) By the time I reached the spot where I could get a picture, he was on his way out of her yard and hightailing it back towards my yard. I hustled back home only to find ... nothing. "Mr. Gizzy's Mom" aka Pawpa finally spotted him ... climbing up, up, up. I waited a while in the yard but he liked it up in his tree so I went back inside to find a window where I could sit to catch him coming back down. Here are 2 quick videos of him on his way down.

Park vs. Yard
The rhododendron in the park is in full bloom. Our rhody in the yard has a bud. Since the two bushes are less than a quarter mile from each other, full sun obviously makes a BIG difference.

Tagged by Caribou Crackers
Ms. Liz tagged us too. Here is the 8th picture in the 8th folder. It's a bridge in Fort Myers, FL that I took from the deck of a boat in the marina.

Friends, I ask you ..
Does it seem fair the photographer got fried chicken and I did not? No, I didn't think so. I am so dismayed I can't even look her in the eye.

3 reasons a human might sound like an idiot.
1. It was early.
2. She just got up.
3. She ain't used to talkin' to cameras.
2. She just got up.
3. She ain't used to talkin' to cameras.
Yesterday morning, Pawpa woke up Mom by asking "Where is the camera?". This is not the way she likes to wake up. Since he was looking out the window, she realized that he must be asking for a reason so she got out of bed and looked out the window too. Mom made this video. She said to tell you she doesn't always sound her best when she first gets outta bed.
Part 1
Part 2
The bear finally left after Pawpa threw a whistling fire cracker out the window. One really loud BANG later .... he was gone.

You don't scare ME....
This little fellow was so intent on eating, he didn't notice I was standing there with my camera. (That was my good luck because the gold finches were not staying still long enough for me to actually get a picture of THEM.)

Jack is Back
Jack in the Pulpit, that is. We have lots of Jacks in the Pulpit around our yard. There is a small one by the side of the front step and another one hiding behind the azalea bush. We have a couple just shooting up in the pachysandra by the fence. They come in all sizes it seems as the two by the fence will grow to stand about 2 feet tall as will the two under the pine tree by the park. Others, like the one by the front step are less than 6 inches tall.
